Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay 2025 Budget: LNCC Reaction
Category: News Releases
Dec 2024
The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay approved its 2025 municipal budget in the amount of $19,047,767.11 on November 28, 2024. The only tax to increase was the Business Tax, to be increased by 1 mil for all business classes with the exception of farms and not-for-profits.
“We are disappointed with the Town’s decision to increase the business mil rate,” says LNCC CEO Julianne Griffin. “Businesses in Happy Valley-Goose Bay have been consistently hit with ongoing changes to the business environment. The rising carbon tax, increasing airfare and shipping costs, and restrictions on immigration and labour are major recent operational pressures faced by employers. To only increase tax on business is concerning when the focus should be on investment attraction and business development.”
