Luke MacLaren

Community Navigator, Welcoming Communities Initiative

Born and raised in Riverview, New Brunswick, Luke has always been highly community-driven dating back to his time on student council in high school. He continued at St. Francis Xavier University where he volunteered at open house events for prospective students, was a member of his house council and Model United Nations society, and conducted seminars for first year students on how to adjust to university life. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts – Joint Major in Political Science/History and moved to Halifax, NS where he worked with Canadian Parents for French as Chapter Outreach Officer. He assisted with events, member and volunteer engagement, public engagement, and creating more opportunities for French Immersion students. He’s also worked with the Downtown Halifax Business Commission as a Membership Engagement Manager, engaging with business owners and members and assisting with various events and social media activities. After a few years working as a Senior Business Development Representative in the tech industry, Luke is thrilled to be LNCC’s Community Navigator and act as a liaison between the business community and prospective newcomers, and help to retain individuals currently working in the region.
Luke has three older sisters and lives with his partner, Morgan, and their American Foxhound, Archie. He spends his time playing hockey, golfing, watching sports (especially football), video chatting with his niece, or at the dog park.
